If you have made a conscious decision to complete a course at your own pace, this is called “Distance Learning” or “Self-pace Learning”.
As a learning concept, it is very valuable to candidates, as it enables your life to carry on, whilst giving you opportunities to acquire new skills at the same time.
Most of the Food Safety, Nutrition and Health, Health Information & HACCP courses we offer can be run via a distance learning correspondence package.
All of the courses are certified by either the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health, the Royal Society for the Promotion of Health or the Royal Institute of Public Health.
Some candidates have very real exam deadlines, others have targets to achieve. This gives you a learning focus. It makes you do it!
You have unlimited e-mail and telephone access to one of our Food Specialist here at Pure Training and Consultancy if you have any questions, are at all unsure about any of the course material, or if at any time, you feel there may be an issue preventing you from reaching your goal – to pass your accredited course. Contact with the office is important! The more they know, the more they and the tutors can help.
You tell us which course you wish to attend and we will send you your course material and set you various tasks to ascertain your understanding of the subject.
At the end of the course you will need to sit an examination. The examination can be sat at a venue near you, once you have given us your contact details, we can source this. Any additional fee for sitting the exam at a venue other than at Pure, will be paid by yourself direct to the venue on top of the course fee.
Every course comes with a one year licence. This starts when your course pack is sent out to you.

Level 2 – Award in Food Safety in Cartering - Certified by The Chartered Institute of Environmental Health
Use as a self-study training computer-based package for all food handlers. The 15 training modules cover the complete Foundation course syllabus. The candidate will receive full email tutor support from our Food safety specialist.

Level 3 – Award in Supervising Food Safety in Catering - Certified by The Chartered Institute of Environmental Health
Managers, supervisors and chefs will now be able to achieve this qualification without having to attend a 4-day off-site training course. The candidate will receive full email tutor support from our Food safety specialist. On completion of the e-learning part of this course, candidates will have their knowledge and understanding checked by a Tutor prior to sitting the Intermediate Food Hygiene exam.
The course provides managers and supervisors with the knowledge to manage food safety at their premises and comply with food safety regulations, by ensuring that they:
- Have an appropriate understanding of food safety and HACCP principles
- Set up and maintain systems, including cleaning schedules, training plans and HACCP
- Train and supervise staff effectively in relation to hygiene and HACCP
- Are able to confidently deal with visits from enforcement officers
